Junior Matt Stuart tied for Low Medalist in the Blue-Gray High School Invitational at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery on Tuesday. After an opening round 76 on Monday, Stuart fired a 5-under, 67 to tie Fort Payne’s Harrison Davis, who followed up his opening round 71 with an even par, 72. Fort Payne’s Davis won the sudden death playoff on the first hole by making birdie on the par 5 16th hole.
Stuart, who started round 2 on the 6th hole (shotgun start), got to 5-under through his first 12 holes before making a bogey on the 18. He finished his round with 6 birdies on the day and 10 for the tournament.
After an opening round of 83, Sophomore Hayden Carner bounced back in round 2 shooting a solid round of 74 and finished tied for 24th. Playing in his first high school tournament, 8th grader Hayes Gibson shot 79-80 to finish tied for 35th.
Sophomores William Vinson (90-90) and Max Smith (83-101) finished 89th & 98th respectively.
