The Jags were led by low medalist Nick Dunlap, who fired rounds of 69-65 to finish 10-under par for the tournament.  His 2-day total of 134 tied for 2nd lowest in tournament history.  The record of 132 is held by former Spain Park golfer Michael Johnson, currently playing on the Web.com tour.  The individual victory for Dunlap is his 2nd of the season and he has finished in the top-5 of all 4 tournaments he has played. His finishes include 5th place at the Fairhope Invitational, 1st at the Joe King Memorial, and runner-up at the Bradley Johnson Memorial.  Out of 8 rounds in the 2018 season, Dunlap now has 6 rounds under par, including 5 rounds in the 60’s.

All Tournament Team: Low medalist Nick Dunlap, Will Richardson (Fairhope, t6), Will McFadden (St. Paul’s, t6), JP Cave (UMS-Wright, t4), Ethan Hagood (t4), Matt Stuart (3rd), Cole Davidson (Oneonta, 2nd)

Junior Matt Stuart caught fire early in round 2 and battled to a strong finish.  After an opening round of 74, Stuart started the 2nd round 5-under through his first 6 holes, powered by an eagle and 3 straight birdies.  After back-to-back bogeys on his 15th & 16th holes of the day (holes 16 & 17), Stuart birdied his 17th hole (the par-4 18th) and made par on his last hole to finish the round 4-under par, 68.  His 2 day total of 2-under, 142, placed him 3rd individually and he earned his 3rd top-5 of the season (Blue-Gray & Glencoe Invitational).

Ethan Hagood recorded his 3rd top-5 performance of the 2018 season carding rounds of 71-72 to finish tied for 4th.  His 2 day score of 1-under, 143, was Hagood’s 3rd tournament with an under-par total.

Seniors Reed Hereford & Carter Goodwin contributed to the team’s record score.  In round 1, Hereford fired a 1-over par, 73.  Goodwin contributed consistent rounds of 77-78.  All 8 of Goodwin’s rounds in the 2018 season have been in the 70’s.  Junior Davis Brown competed as an individual and carded rounds of 80-83.
