The Spain Park varsity boys soccer team picked up where they left off before spring break with a 2-1 win over the Pelham HS Panthers on Wednesday night. After a first twenty minutes of even play between the two teams, Pelham HS struck first with a goal over a set piece. The ball was lifted high to the back post where a Pelham player headed the ball off the post to a teammate who game the Panthers a first half 1-0 lead. The Panthers did not keep the lead long til the Jags scored off their own set piece in the 28th minute. Reece Eberhardt was fouled just outside of the penalty area, leading to a free kick by teammate Brooks Rice. The ensuring free kick by Rice led to a rebound that was scored by sophomore Logan Bradley, his first goal as a member of the varsity team. The Jags scored with a little over a minute left til halftime when senior Harry Feather gathered a loose ball and pass it wide to Rice. Rice drifted inside his marker and created space for a 30 yard shot that found its way into the back of the net for the 2-1. The Jags preserved this lead til the end for the 2-1 victory. MJ Dimbo made five saves in goal for the win, giving him three wins on the season. Next Jag home game is this Friday night at 7pm vs Mill Creek HS from Georgia.
